Correspondence, 1920s-1950s; genealogical notes and charts; clippings, some dating from the 18th century; and printed material relating to his genealogical research on the Mitchell family. Treated to a lesser extent are the Beach, Bruen, Fahnestock, Fonerden, Leverich, Livingston, Lyon, Morris, Spengler, Spingler, Snyder, Warde, and Von Erden families. Some 1960s correspondence, and notes are by genealogist Harold Minot Pitman. Of note is a substantial amount of 18th and 19th century Mitchell family wills, indentures, and other legal documents; death and other certificates; accounts, and other family ephemera. Also of note is correspondence, ca. 1794-1880s, of members of the Mitchell family in England, Ireland, and Philadelphia and New York, particularly that of Margaret Fulton Mitchell of Coleraine, Ireland, 1803-1809, to her sons in New York and London containing family news; Judge William Mitchell, 1830s-1880s, a Justice of the Supreme Court of the State of New York (obituaries and death announcements for him are also included); and Rev. Edward Mitchell, ca. 1810-1815, who was born in Coleraine and lived in New York.
